I drive a BJ8 which I love dearly and I can't think of not driving it or selling it but as I get older, I'm now 63, I find the seat and driving position more and more uncomfortable. I'm average size, not overweight and not looking for super comfort, just more lower back support. So I supose this is addressed more to the older members of this forum. Has anyone found an easy to fit, more comfortable seat for the Healey?
Any advice greatfully received.

ian, i also have lower back problems, i simply bought a near color matching red leather cylindrical pillow about 20" long and use it to support my lower back, works great, i did once buy an inflateable one as randy mentioned they will work however i found that unless you pay for a really good expensive one they will leak air.

Don't give up! There is a cheap fix. I've been using a computer chair support for over 3 years now and its great. They run about ten bucks. They sell them at Frys electronics, Staples and many other places. They are a black web cloth stretched on a cloth covered wire frame. They arch for the lower back and couture to the sides. The web allows cool air on the back. The slid over the seat with an elastic strap around the back. I've got many of the Northern California guys using them after sitting in mine. My wife now enjoys riding for hours where she complained after 30 minutes before. I've had a chronic lower back problem for 40 years and could hardly get out of the Healey after a few hours. We were given them by a fellow BJ8 owner (who lives around the corner from me)who's wife had back surgery. She wouldn't get in the car 'till he discovered these supports. I will try to post a photo this weekend.

I have MG-B GT seats (without the headrests) that ride and support wonderfully,

although fitting them in required some behind-the-door surgery to my 100-6.

Since you don't have to plug a top frame in there, they might just drop into your BJ.

I know a V8 Healey guy who has fully adjustable late model Miata seats and LOVES them.
They even have stereo speakers in the headrests.
