TR6 Seats

According to the info in the VB catalog(just happened to have one handy), the removable headrests began in the 73 cars, with the comm. #CF1.

It's like Berry said, removable headrest were used for 1973 and up. There were three basic seat configurations for the North American spec TR6. For 1969 only the headrests folded forward allowing the tonneau cover to be fitted. For 1970 up to and including the 1972 model year, the headrest was fixed and pockets added to the tonneau cover to accommodate the headrests. Then you get to the 1973 and up configuration.

Thanks. Someone has some seats from a 1974. I have original seats and the drivers seat has a couple of small rips and worn spots plus it has sagged a bit. The passenger seat is fine. Someone suggested Miata seats and I know of at least one car that has them but I dunno. Besides, where do you find black Miata seats in good condition?

Well, the seats between the different TR6 configurations will interchange as complete units. As far the Miata seats go, take a look at the sponsors section at miata.net ( https://miata.net/marketplace.html ). Scroll down and find Treasure Coast, MazMart (part of the Jim Downing "Empire"), Parts Group and Used Miata Parts Online. That mod for TRs has been out there long enough that the seats are starting to to get hard to come by, but every now and then you can run across a set. You might also check out some of your local used parts sources and the individual's for sale section of miata.net ( https://forum.miata.net/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=99 ) or perhaps post something in the Want to Buy section ( https://forum.miata.net/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=22 ).

If you dig up the Miata seats, I have the track conversion kit. If you need it, PM me...
BTW, I had '72 seats in my '74...
