Anyone ever sat in an AC? I saw this photo and the seats "look" very comfortable. They "appear" to offer more back and shoulder support. Just wondered if anyone on the list had any experience with them and would know if they would fit in a Healey?
Hi Andy,
Thanks, I am aware of those seats and Cape's do look nice. I just thought that the AC ACE seats looked more "vintage," because after all, they are.
Have you looked into repro restoration parts for AC cars. Maybe someone has produced seat frames and upholstery kits? It's a small market, but you never know? Lovely car the AC ACE, I've always been an admirer.
Lin, can't help as far as having sat in an original AC seat but here are a few other potential sources for seats..... you might try Superformance they make a very accurate AC Cobra replica. https://www.superformance.com/mkIII.aspx
Probably the most accurate of all is Kirkham Motorsports (aluminum body) and they even have an FIA version (narrow body 289) which would be a close match in size to a Healey https://www.kirkhammotorsports.com/289_st/index.html They probably sell the seats separate.
I too have considered getting (repro) AC Cobra seats for my car. I just haven't done anything yet, as I'd want them to match the rest of my (yet to be purchased/installed) interior. My trouble, is I don't want to go to with black, more like a burgundy color.
Yes I have sat in an AC Ace, Bristol model to be exact. They were comfortable but as for appearance they looked sort of too large or "plumpy" for my tastes. The car rode very well and the Bristol motor was sweet!
