After driving Midgie around a bit I've grown to dislike the seats bolted directly to the floor without a spacer. What options do I have to put spacers in. I know the original were made out of wood. Mine have long since disappeared. What's the dimensions length and width wise? Has anyone created a wedge spacer to fit?

In the Bugeye race car, where originality was not a concern, I went to the local Lowes' and bought a 36" length of 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" square steel tube...the kind with all the holes in it, and cut two pieces to fit. It put the seat just high enough off the floor, didn't weigh too much, and had LOTS of mounting holes already punched.

Be careful going too high; steering wheel clearance.

I have made (and have helped others make) the runner-spacers out of PVC sign-board. This is a plastic material that will not rot and comes in a variety of thicknesses from less than 1/8" up to 1" (and even greater!). It is quite easy to work with as far as cutting and drilling.

Go to your local fast-sign type shop and inquire about getting it (or check their dumpster for free scraps!!).

You will need 2 pieces per seat, each approx. 17" long x 1" wide. Use the seat rails as patterns for bolt holes. The thickness can be varied to fit the height you wish. The material is soft enough tha you could use a belt sander to give it a taper if you wish!
 
Rails are only used on the drivers seat to make it clear the adjusting thing. Passanger side has little stands on the frame.
