Seat Foam

I have new seat covers for my 66 sprite. I have not taken the seats apart so not sure how bad the foam is. What do most do when restoring seats? I was thinking of ordering new foam from VB, they have back and bottom for 109.95 page 20. How is the quality of the foam? Or could I just go to a local shop and have them cut some foam?. Or can I just add a slim foam piece under the existing foam to improve the thickness?
Thanks
Phil

I ended up cutting my own. Still installing to know if it was a mistake or not. Think I should hav ebought from VB or Moss (in hindsight).

Miss Agathas are from Moss via Tony.

I inherited a seat bottom along with some parts I bought. Really made a difference is D.S. comfort. Moreimportant is to order new rubber seat bottom webbings. Most improvement in LBC Driving Comfort you can make. These things are cheap and easy to install.

Cutting foam with a big electric carving knofe might be easy to do but getting the proper curve in the proper place so the covers fit tight is another matter.

My solution, a set of Miata Seats are in the works.

Ok, i will order new foam, Moss lists the bottom foam. VB lists both back & bottom, I wonder if quality is the same. I have new rubber bottoms from Moss.
Thanks Phil

Order Seat bottom webbing as well. You'll find the old rubber under there is rotted or almost totally gone. Really makes a difference in comfort. Webbing is cheap.

Often the back foam does not need to be replaced. The bottom almost always needs replacing.
