TR6 Seat Belt Module?

Recently, I removed the glove box and noticed that the plug that fits into the socket shown below was unplugged. It doesn’t seem to have affected anything that I notice when driving the car. Looking at a wiring diagram it appears to be the “seat belt module”. Since I know when I have my seat belt on, is there any reason the reconnect this module? My thought is the fewer unnecessary electrical items running the better.

Not only does the module tell you about the seat belt, but it also has an interlock so the car won't start unless you are sitting in the seat AND have your seatbelt on.
The module is problematic since if everything is not working, you are unable to start the car. Most people either have it disconnected or (in my case) just jumper two wires to bypass the safety interlock so the car will start without the seatbelt being engaged.
 
Thanks Gliderman8. I can’t be sure it didnt come loose when I removed the glovebox. I guess I’ll just try to start it unplugged and then if it won’t I’ll plug it in.
 
If you have a 74 model, there would be a 12 pin plug with a w/o and w/r wire...If a PO didn't already, you should splice those 2 wires together, like the factory did in 75....
 
For those too young to remember, all 1973 cars sold here had a seat belt interlock that made the car impossible to start unless your seat belt was latched. 1974 cars had a ton of smog control crap that made them run poorly.
