Seam sealer in the Engine compartment?

I have been using seam sealer all along, but now I am to the engine bay and do not remember finding seam sealer in the strip phase. I am not going for a 100-point car. Have mixed feelings, like the extra protection of the sealer, but would like a clean crisp look in the engine compartment. What is correct? Then what are you doing?

I will be going with body color in the engine area.

My '71 TR6 did not have seam sealer in the engine bay. Only in the passenger compartment, trunk and wheel wells.
