TR2/3/3A Sealing Fo8's and Wet Liners

I am getting ready to install new 87mm liners and pistons (1959 TR3A). Roger Williams and others advise "Wellseal" a British product. Is there an equivalent product in North America that works? I would prefer something like Wellseal which does not set but seals. My concerns are ensuring a seal over the time it is going to take to insert the liners, pistons and head. Obviously, one would expect product deformation when torquing cylinder head, hence the non-setting comment. Thank you, David
 
Rimmer Bros. in the UK will ship the Wellseal and have it to you within a week. That's what I chose to use, although you are correct, many on the forum have had great luck using permatex products too.
 
I used Permatex Aviation Form-a-Gasket and it worked fine for me.

It sets up but not really hard (at least not for a very long time) more a gummy-hard.
 
TRF also sells Wellseal in the US, but it's kind of expensive. Like Geo, I've always used Permatex #3 Aviation Form-A-Gasket (the brown gooey shellac in a can with a brush top). Seems to work well for me. I also use it on the felt at the rear main seal.

I had some of it in the barn for a very long time (how long has it been since they discontinued the metal can?). Still gooey. Tom
