I'm putting a new "insulating" flange in my old SOLEX carb.

Flange is Bakelite, and goes flush between carb base and carb body. I don't want a vacuum leak at that joint; manual says to use a sealing compound.

What sealing compound should I use? Permatex® Anaerobic Flange Sealant? something better?

Thanks.
Tom

Well, I guess that would be OK if you are absolutely certain you'll never want to take that joint apart again. Personally, I'd probably use Hylomar instead.

Thanks Randall. Which Hylomar product would you recommend for this use?
Tom

"Universal Blue" or "Universal Blue Racing Formula". The former is really hard to find in the US, although apparently not technically illegal.
