Scuttle Vent Removal

I need to remove the scuttle vent from my '71 TR6 and can't seem to figure out how it's attached. This is the early style solid metal vent lid. I've disconnected the metal springs and removed the three small bolts that appeared to be holding down the hinge. However, nothing will budge. What am I missing?

Probably glooped down by the weatherstrip adhesive, or corroded old weatherstrip...

You appear to have got it all.

Except the sticky stuff..

Try, ah..., gently prying...

Okay, got it figured out. Seems that the 35yr old weatherstrip had morphed into an adhesive and was holding everything down. Screwdriver and hammer applied in the proper place did the job.

It was not necessary to remove the wipers in order to get the scuttle vent disassembled. However, I'm doing a full frame off and getting ready for paint so the wipers, bezels and wiper internals all had to go.

I didn't know that the 71 had a scuttle vent door. Thought it was only 69. Curious.

Bill,
Just to ensure that we are talking about the same thing. Scuttle vent in my dictionary is the little flip door just in front of the windshield. Early models had a solid metal door while later had a plastic grille.
