The Spitfire MKI finally has new wheels and tires. That's the good news.
There continues a scraping sound from the rear of the car.
The sound is related to the speed of the car, seems to come from the right rear wheel/ axle. I have replaced the CV joint and U joint on the drive shaft, the brake drum and pulled to oil cup slinger away from the hub. The sound remains. The sound occurs accelerating, coasting, forward or backward, turning right and left. I do not hear the scrape when the wheels are off the ground and the car is supported with jack stands at the vertical links.
I don't know the age of the bearings in the axle, I took it from stock in order to replace a late Spit axle. Cleaned and replaced a U joint but did not change bearings- as I turned the axle by hand it was smooth and quiet.
I wonder if the camber compensator could be rubbing against the exhaust system. The sound is aggravating. I thought maybe it would break at the autocross at Triumphest and then I wold know what to fix.
Any ideas?
