Scared of heights

I too, have a huge fear of the sudden stop at the bottom when you talk about heights.
On the other hand, this plane would be so cool. If only I was brave enough to fly in it.
Thanks Dave

Ceramic transparent skin? I always thought of ceramic as being brittle. Hardly a trait you want in an airplane.

If I'm strapped in it'd be a cake-walk.

If it was "loose" I'd be like a little girl.

rest room walls?

JP, only you would think of that!

you know what they say, people who live in glass houses - should change in the basement.

Sounds like it's more of a real-time Imax image. Personally I'd be thrilled. I'm gonna have a hard time tonight not squishing my dot. She's got the window seat. I spent most of the trip to PR and back with my head jammed in the porthole.

Which airport ya landin'?

Orlando Sanford 'bout 8:15ish

The Comet is still one of the best looking passenger aircraft, IMO.

Agree - definitely one of the best. But at the top of my list:

Lockheed Constellation. What a great plane. Could fly trans-Atlantic on three of the four engines, and could hold altitude on ONE of the four engines.

Scott - what is that? I can't make out the livery. Looks like they enlarged the original DH Comet. Reminds me of when they "enlarged" the B-29 into the Boeing 377. Very cool.

It's a British "Nimrod". It's a The RAF uses them for maritime patrol/sub-hunting. The older ones with the narrower inlets like the Comet are going to be slowly going away. The newer ones have bigger round inlets in the same location.

There are other old airliner crossovers out there too. The lockheed L188 "electra" had been around since the 50s with the remaining handful (in the USA anyway, I think) flying mixed cargo/pax flights in Alaska. As far as I know all of those have been retired... yet the Navy still flies the P3 Orion version constantly in the same roll as the Nimrod:

Another well-known relationship involves the KC-135, which was used to develop the Boeing 707.
Not that they are exactly the same plane......but they are "related".

I know I posted this before: I got to lay on my stomach and look out the back of a KC-135 during re-fueling.
I also got to "steer" the refueling boom (when no aircraft were nearby, of course).
