Saw a plane crash today

tr6bill, that guy did a nice job landing on that beach, while working at newark airport as an aircraft mech. a gent walks up no me in the hanger and shakingly hands me a broken pair of reading glasses tells me hes got a very important meeting in a few minutes asks if i could fix them some how so i safety wired one of the horns back on he then hands me a new crisp $100.00 i felt that tip was way too much and tried not to accept still shaking he explained that the meeting he was about to attend was with the f.a.a. because some place over phillie he lost both engines on his lear jet and had to dead stick this puppy into newark with a patient and a nurse on board. now that took a lot ah cohones.

I would be willing to bet that he left his cohones in the Lear Jet. I didn't know one could dead-stick one of those puppies. Kinda like a Lead Sled.

To answer your question. YES! Actually, you don't even have to pull the wings. Flat bottom barges don't draw much water and 50 feet is nothing. Its all in knowing how. 40 years in heavy construction and working barges on the river and in the ocean taught me that.

i agree, strange that of the three hundred guys and some gals that registered for a four year course at the academy of aeronautics only 30 graduated i went full time summers and got out in three years 29 of the graduates wanted flying jobs not me they all got jobs an the ground guess who became chief flight engineer for three major oil companys. anyone ever tell ya theres no "close calls" in the air is full of it!
