Saving video

So Carla and I took our first video yesterday with a cheap Kodak point and shoot camera. We've only used it for stills previously. Playback of the video was fine on the camera so we uploaded it to the computer. It went directly to our "Picture" folder. On playback on the computer the only thing we get is sound but no picture. What are we/did we do wrong?? Suggestions? We are definitely neophytes at this...probably need to find an 8 year old kid to help us :(

Hi Gary - different cameras save video in different formats.

If you choose WMV or MPEG as format, your computer (Windows? Mac?) should show the video picture as well as audio.

Tom...this cheap little camera doesn't give us a choice of WMV OR MPEG FORMAT. There is a setting I know nothing about that says "video out" and gives a choice of NTSC OR PAL whatever those mean. I'm lost and, of course, have no manual for the camera.

Gary - NTSC is for American video systems: PAL is for European systems.

What is the exact model of the camera?

Gary Google is your friend.
Find the manual online

This might help: most Easyshare cameras use the .MOV video format. You can view mov files using QuickTime. QuickTime isn't usually the default video system on Windows machines, so you'll probably need to install it.

Look in the Pictures folder. In case the video file on your computer is a .MOV, here's a Quicktime link:

https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

You can also use the Easyshare utility program that comes with the camera to change to other video formats. Do you have that? (usually comes on a CD) If not, it's unfortunately no longer available for download from Kodak.

I don't know what model Easyshare you have, but here's a link to the manual for the Easyshare 195.

Hope this helps.

Nutmeg...Believe it or not, I did this before I got your message. I Checked out the video format and it is .mov. Googled, found the Apple install app and all is well. Thanks everyone for your assistance

Glad we could help!
