Hello. Just purchased a tr6. My third one over the years. Drives just as I rembered from previous years. Look forward to being able to post questions. Worked on them in the past

Question on fuel for 73 tr6. What should I use?
I have a '76 Midget which has an unleaded head. However, it doesn't seem like cars suffer for running unleaded (generally) and if they do, it costs about the same to replace the head as to convert it - so, I would suggest unleaded is fine. I am not a fan of ethanol so, I run Shell Gold - which here in Ontario at least has none. I find the car runs better (and here, starts better after sitting)

I'm in Venice. Owning a TR6 for over 21 years. Feeling a little under the weather now (recovering from mild case of Covid?) but would love to get together in the near future.

Look forward to meeting with you once you recover. My phone is

. I live in mission estates. My question now is what gasoline do you use for a 73 tr

I keep my timing advanced for more power so I have to use premium - but since I drive the car so little, the extra cost is nothing. Most of the gas is 10% ethanol but I have had no trouble at all through the years. I think it might ping or knock with regular. I never tested it. I did have hardened valve seats put in a few years ago so I can burn unleaded without any problam. Do you know if your car had a valve job with hardened seats installed?

Use the highest octane you can find.

In my ‘73 TR6 I always use the highest octane.

Note in your post I edited it so that a person has to click to view your phone number. Just a friendly word of caution - it's generally a not a good idea to post your phone number in a public forum (you never know who is going to see it). Instead, if you want to give your phone number to a specific member, we recommend you send them a private conversation (sometimes caled a Private Message).
