For all of you Southern California LBC owners - don't forget to plan on attending the

San Diego British Car Day

Great event. Something like 400+ cars show up. Follow the link above.

Anybody plan on being there?

Cheers

I'm going to miss it this year unfortunately. I travel back from a job that day. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I am going to try to make it this year. I have been told that there are more like 500+ LBC's at this show? Is the show on grass? Cheers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif

Yes they've had over 500+ a couple times but you can almost count on 400 to 450 avg. And yes it is on grass, so pack something to sit on and bring a lunch & your favorite beverage if you don't want to wait in line to purchase something.

Hope to see ya there! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

Will do! There are already 300 LBC's pre-registered, which generally ='s half of the days total car count. Last year's show had more than 500. Should be 85-90 degrees on the day. See you Sunday. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif

Sorry,Steve! I will have a beer for you while enjoying ALL of the shinny LBC's on grass. Cheers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Well, it isn't all bad, I'll be in Aruba. But I'll be there for work and spending the whole time thinking about MGs, of which there are none on the island. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If you're going to Aruba be sure not to “hand feed” the Iguanas. There where hundreds that roamed freely around the pool at our hotel. They told us you can get really sick if they bit you. I’ve got a great picture of my wife (then girl friend) scared to death sitting on a lounge chair by the pool when this huge 4 ft Iguana decided to camp under her while she was sun bathing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Also be sure to check out the north side of the island lots of coves & brilliant rock formations. There is also a little place called “Tunnel of Love” on the eastern side of the island. Hint don't let the name fool ya, there ain't anything romantic in that cave. The basically give you a flashlight and let you go in un-escorted. And yes there are live critters down there.

Be safe,

Sounds like the car show is a much safer environment, and with-out a plane ticket. Just hope it cools down a bit. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

I went to Aruba last year and was very unimpressed. To be fair, I didn't have much spare time to really have a look around. I may end up with a day off on this trip so maybe I'll be able to give it a real chance. Thanks for the tips! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi Bret,

We're planning on taking my teal '74 Sabrina-bumper B down there. Since our son is going too, I'll have to have a chase car. Probably not a bad thing to have anyway....

500 - 600 cars? Whew!

I'll look for your BRG '78 and maybe see you down there!

It looks like I might be solo this year. The daughter wants to go to a birthday party that afternoon for one of her friends from first grade. At that age – birthday parties are major social events.

Anyway I will be packing a lunch & put a few Newcastle Brown Ales in my cooler. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Do you guys know who to contact to find out about events a little further north in CA? I'm just outside SF, and haven't managed to ID any clubs OR events up this way.

thx,
John

Hey John,

There are two MG clubs I know of in N.Cal.

The MG Owners Club, INC. MGOC web site These folks are located across the bay from San Francisco in El Cerrito CA.

&

The Sacramento Valley MG Club SVMGC.

Each of their web sites linked above have a lot of events & other links for your area.

You might also check out NAMGBR for other club & chapter listings without web pages. NAMGBC Clubs & Chapters

Good luck,
Bret
