So when did you pick that up? or did I miss something? Beautiful car...your a lucky man /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif any pics?

I was trying to hide that in the sig without much fanfare. Yup I got a 1986 328 GTS. Sold the '69 Corvette, TR8 and '59 TR3 project.

It's been both great and a pain -- I bought it a month ago, but delivery took almost a month. The transporter broke down three times, and along the way bent the hood of the car. They deny doing any damage, and point to two marks on the bill of lading as being previous damage (even though they correspond to two rock chips.) I'm just going to submit the damage to my Hagerty policy and give them the trucking co's insurance and have them fight it out. (I have before shipping and after shipping pictures.)

Anyway, the car has 84,500 miles, so it has been driven all along. Engine major service done 4 years ago. The car is Blu Medio Metallico, which is a fairly rare color -- it's a dark grayish blue. (Most are Blu Sera -- the dark blue.) Paint has a ton of rock chips and places where the paint has been polished through -- a 15 footer, but it is very straight and no rust. It has the optional factory top spoiler.

Originally a tan interior car, but the previous owner put in correct black leather interior a few years ago. Looks great inside.

It goes like stink and is fun to drive. I had it out today -- drove it down to go meet a friend with a F355 Spyder. I drove the F355 and it is such an amazing car -- fast, and lightyears ahead of the 328 in comfort.

But I love the 328's styling. It's so beautiful. I lusted after 308s from the time I was 10.

Picture is attached.

I've always been a fan of the base 308 body style. My favorite Ferrari is the 288GTO. Something about being an impressionable young man at some point or another.

gorgeous car, neat pic too....I've always loved the 308 styling as well...I was at the local fancy import dealer picking up TR6 parts and I stopped to drool on a 308 they had parked outside, mightly tempting.
I am really surprised you sold the 69 Vette thou....personally I'd rather have had that, beautiful in black! But I guess a little change can't hurt either...

Congrats!

I sold the '69 Corvette for a number of reasons. It was very rough around the edges -- tranny was a timebomb, it needed new paint and weather strip all the way around. It was an automatic, too. Basically, it was a fun car, but everywhere I went there were ten other Corvettes.

I got offered a dream price for the Corvette, so I sold it. It only cost me $2500 more to buy the Ferrari!

While I liked the Corvette, I've never been passionate about the Stingray body. The 308/328, though, has been one of my all-time favorites.

I only know of one other 308/328 in town (a red 308QV,) so when I show up to shows and cruises, I will have something to talk about with other hobbyists, rather than just being the rattiest Corvette there.

Nice work... now it's time for a new sig picture. 328 Ferraris are quite a nice looking bit of automotive art. Fits in nicely with the other's in your little collection. Sometime you just need to go really fast, and look good doing it!

Looks great Sammy! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif I've always loved the classy styling and have always lusted after the 308 myself. But I guess I'd settle for a 328 too if given the chance.

BTW do let me know if you ever consider selling that 944? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Sounds like you made a good deal for the Vette....one thing abot those old Vettes is they are very easy to sell, and at surprising high prices....When I sold my 73 convert which was VERY rough(sitting 12 years oldside, but still solid driveable car) it sold to the first person that looked at it for alot more than I've ever sold any British car for.

Bret,
I actually sold that 944 last year. Didn't keep it very long, as my mechanic buddies got the heebie jeebies over it. Basically just got it running then drove it a whole 25 miles or so, then sold it.

That’s ok Sammy, as you know I'd been eyeballin' them for sometime now. Either they are priced beyond my pocketbook or they're abused basket cases - sometimes both. But I figured if anyone had a nice one that'd be worth taking a look at it'd be someone like you.

In fact I was giving some serious consideration to one a few weeks ago. Really nice well maintained specimen (black on black) and even in the right price range, but it was an automatic.

Sam,

Can't wait until I can get up to Olympia & borrow it for a few days.
Hey - I'll even return it with a full tank.

- Doug
