Many of you may be familiar with Sam Posey the racing driver. These day, he's often on TV as a commentator for various races. And yes, he likes British cars (although as a child of means, he talked his doting mother into buying him a used Gullwing when he was 16.......and then he had his neighbour, John Fitch teach him to drive it!)

Anyway, I was surprised to read (in Classic Motorsports magazine) that Sam is also a model train fan. And he has written a book on the subject. Some of Sam's interest is born from medical limitations that prevent him from active racing these days (he has Parkinson's). But it's great to see some of his passion in this new part of his life. I'll probably never own a nice model train layout, but I do appreciate them.

I bought Sam's book about his trains years ago and it is a book that I kept in the library rather than donating. His background as an art student was a major part of his fascination, plus having a relative who was a major executive with the Pennsy Railroad if I remember correctly. His book the Mudge Pond Express is also well written.

Rod Stewart's model railroad layout has been featured a few times in Model Railroader Magazine, including a cover story.

My train layout has no trains, just slot cars, but it is a wonderful way to be creative.
 
Yeah....I do that in my "spare" time. I've got 1500' of track in the backyard. And a snowplow or two.

Probably based on the fact that it was just one printing back in 1976, there are not a lot of copies available right now. The cheapest I found it today online is ABE Books for $90. I will try to remember the rarity of my copy if I ever decide to part with it. You may find one in a used book store or a charity used book sale. I donate several boxes of books each year to the local AAUW book sale.

It allows you to specify what section of the photo you want to keep in focus, and then you specify the degree of "out-of-focus" you want for the rest of the photo. It is easier then getting the equipment for tilt shift photography.
 
Shoot, I do that all the time.
Cept, when I do it ,it is a mistake
