Safe Places for MGs

Hi All.

Planning a bit of a road trip this summer to NYC, Boston and Washington. Of course, my concern is keeping the MGB safe while visiting those places. Anyone have suggestions on places to stay where the car will be as pristine when leaving as when arriving? Many thanks.

Darren

I hear there's a BOUNTY on LBC's sportin' Canadian plates in D.C. there, Bubba.

It is called Canadian Envy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

Ummm, if you wanted to do a summer roadtrip I'd either
A) take the 'normal car' to do those cities or,
B) rethink your destinations and take a real driving tour of the states in your MG.

For some reason, I can't find any enjoyment whatsover in driving around Boston, NYC or DC IN ANY VEHICLE. When I've been to those cities, I didn't have a car. I relied (quite nicely, I'll add) on public transportation. Traffic is appalling, drivers are morons and parking is non-existent.

Hope your A/c is working,hehe.

Hey Jack. Temps are usually in the high 80's and into the 90's up here in Toronto too, in the summer time, so if we would need A/C there, we would use it here too while driving. No differant.

Just drive the car, park it in the same place you would park any other car you care about and don't worry too much about it. The possibility of damage or theft exists no matter where you go. Leaving the car at home and taking another is certainly an option, but why bother owning an MG at all if you're afraid to use it as it was intended to be? Drive the MG, enjoy your trip and post some photos when you are done.

Fine. Go-on. Just stay off the DC-Balimor Pkwy.

Long as the A/C works you will be fine. Hot, maybe 100 and lots of humidity.

Make sure your insurance is in good shape and watch out for the semi swallowing pot holes around DC. Anyone remember which way you do not want to go when getting off the beltway? Especialy after dark.

See my last post re: DC/Baltimore. A minefield would be a better trail.

Check Frapper & see if any other enthusiasts have a spare bay the MG can camp out in for the night.
I'm sure there are plenty of helping hands out there.

GUYS! Its an MG...its designed for fun driving....that's what he's proposing...good grief...I see Ferrari's in those cities every time I'm there....if we can't enjoy these little cars, why own them?

Drive the little car....enjoy the comments from everybody who sees it.....if something happens, you've got insurance....

I remember a school trip to DC back in high school. We had a group of 5 tour busses. During our trip which consisted of 4 days in DC we were involved in two major auto accidents. One was because our bus driver ran a red light so we could keep with the group, the other was because some moron wouldn't let one of the busses merge onto the highway. The funny thing was, the traffic was basically at a stand still and the guy still wouldn't let the bus over even though it was obvious that he was merging whether the other guy liked it or not. It was probably the most preventable accident I've ever seen.
