Yeah, but don't connect it to the full vacuum of the intake manifold.....it needs to be in *front* of the throttle plate, by the carb air intake.

Too late. What will this do. I gotta tell you my oil leak stopped and this thing runs like a bat out of he**. Had to adjust the carb to richen it out again, but man the power feels ridiculous...
 
If the hose is pretty small or the connector to the manifold is small, it may restrict the vacuum enough to limit things so you don't start sucking oil (this is what a PVC valve does).

With direct vacuum to the crankcase, you may suck oil during very high vacuum (like when you're downshifting and slowing down). The result will be big clouds of blue smoke as you accelerate after slowing down.
If you don't see any big smoke and the thing is not using oil, you may be OK.

Glad your oil leak stopped, but I'm not surprised. Applying a light vacuum to my 1500 stopped the leak right away...I guess these engines just need a method to reduce crankcase pressure or they leak no matter how good they're sealed.
 
I have a similar set up. I have a line going from the valve cover to my catch can (a jelly jar) a line going from the catch can to a teensy-eensy port I added to the manifold. And a line connected to a pcv valve running to my charcoal pot. My charcoal pot is connected to the normal port on the ZS150 carb (throttle body for me).

It's ugly but it works.
 
I post a pic tonight but the setup is so complew I dont think it will be a problem. It runs threw a moroso breather / Catch tank out of a PCV valve and into the manifold. I can alway sneak a ball valve in there to control vacum :wink:

Indeed it is!

Here's my engine after a stud holding the S&S carb stripped and I had to use a Vise-Grip to hold the carb on. I used gobs of orange RTV sealer to reduce air leaks and duct taped the Vise-Grips on so it wouldn't fall off during the race.

Looked horrible, but worked!
I ran a 1-Hour enduro like this at BeaveRun and won my class.

Ugly *is* good! (you can sort of see my ugly vent system in this picture too)

Heres a pic of the finished job. Turned the Moroso Breather into a sepration/ catch tank. Took the breather off the top and found a pcv and rubber grommet to fit snugly in its place than ran some 06 AN to the intake manifold. The can is designed with baffles in it so if I suck any oil out it should catch it there. Did some hard pulls with it tonight and soem downshifting. So far so good. Fuel ratio is good but was runner real hot so drop the plugs to bp8es. Had some 5es in there to get it started the other day when I fouled the last set.
 
Nial if you look at how cklose that Nascar bar is to the makshift filter, I was limited for choices to pull the vacum. If I pull too much I may get a 3/8" aluninum dowel and drill a smaller holes threw the center than in sert into hose. Instant restriction!
