I stopped by the local wrecking yard on the way
home from work today.
In the back of the yard there were 2 Sonetts.
The first one, built in Sept.'73,was fairly complete,
but needs work. The second one, built in August '72,is
probably only good for parts. These are Sonett III's.
If anyone's interested,I can give you the name
of the yard.I could also get pictures.

Shame to see interesting little cars like those in the boneyard!

I had a 73 about ten years ago. I loved that little thing. It reminded me alot of my TVR, just not as solid or refined. I would love to have a clean Sonett body to drop onto a TVR Tasmin chassis I have sitting out back.

There is one for sale on Craigslist here in Orlando 32807. Looks pretty nice ($4000).

Around here, those are known to be good ice racing cars. Hope someone saves them. too far for me

They told me the earlier car will be
crushed (not sure about scrap metal price on
fiberglass - or how you do it).
The later car will be sold as is.
Both have complete Ford V4's in them.
Same engine as a V4 Ford Corsair.

It started life as a tractor motor, IIRC. Great li'l mill.

Ben, there was an ice racer "up there" (Maine, actually) whose name has been mentioned before: Clyde Billings. Coldplugs has some knowledge/rememberance of him too. Saabs were kick-butt ice racing cars!

Hey Banjo, we used to ice race up in your there-abouts... ever been to Red House Lake in Allegheny State Park? Just a little west of you!

Saabs were about the only FWD cars in the day, except for the odd Simca 1100! Beetles were popular on the ice too!
