Saab Shelby wheels

Ever since hearing that Tony has found that the Saab Shelby Sport wheels are really light and fit MGBs, I've been loosely keeping an eye out for them. I found a set on eBay, but I'm not sure if these are the right ones. I don't recall seeing a close up of the Saab wheels that Tony's using on his GRM 2006 car. I've looked at a couple of Saab sites that list every known stock wheel to come on Saab 900/9000s and the only Shelby wheel I saw was "Silvervane Shelby Sport Wheels", "Goldvane Shelby Sport Wheels", and another "??? Shelby Sport Wheels" (this ones black according to description). They have a Mini-Lite appearance to them, and of the wheels that have a weight listed these are the lightest at 15lbs. However, the sites I've seen claim that they're actually manufactured by Ronal, and that the Saab catalogs call them "Metalux". So, I just wanted to double chack and be sure that these are the wheels.

Those look like Tony's, but his are painted black, and instead of RONAL - it says SHELBY there. Probably good one's though. All of the Saab wheels I find are the geometric patterned one's... I've been looking too.

They should have Caroll Shelby on them - & Saab...but they're at the high end of their price right now!

Ronal made som though but all the Shelby ones are powdercoated spokes

hmmmmmm.... black you say.... I kinda like the way 3 of my Rostyles are all black... black mini-lite alike wheels might actually be kinda "hot" lookin' ... I'm really gonna have to keep an eye out for those... maybe scavenge a few yards...

would four 15" rims fit in a B's passenger seat? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Some were black, some gold, some dark grey...depended on the car

yeah... but I kinda like the way black is sounding :p

I'm planning on painting my rostyles black later this year... and installing the new chrome lug nuts, and trim rings that I got from Tony back in February!

Black wheels are pretty good looking IMHO.

Thats a good price! A new set from a Saab/Volvo dealer went north of $600 last year.

sheesh... six bills? hmmm... actually, Superlites and most of the other Mini-lite alike wheels I've been looking at are in about the same price range (between $500 and $600 for a set of 4). On the other hand, they're not as light as the Saab Shelby wheels.

Then, David, as usual I stole mine! Because I didn't pay anywhere near that!

But I understand there are snakes out where you look for parts Tony.

They are where I've been looking too. Carry a snake flicker stick with ya!

Off Topic (so what's new) but: Tony, have you a set of small hubcaps for an MGB you'd part with? I'm gonna decide whether to paint the rims original silver, black or the OE White in a few days... but I've no hubcaps /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Think I've got a set of AH hub caps, Doc

Problem with the MG ones is they rust real easy so I toss them when that starts

May have the old set off my TD but they have the MG octagon in center - I'll look

You can still get them aftermarket if you want.

That (aftermarket) may be my "path of least resistance". Thought I ahd a set buried here somewheres... not found 'em so far though.

It just started raining - I'll look when its finished

No hurry, it'll be a while before I'm ready for 'em.
