What is everybody using to re-coat frame and under-body parts that have been reconditioned? I understand that "Hamerite" is a coating that converts rusty surfaces to a benign finish, but is it the best for our purposes? I don't know if it is available in a finish color and sheen that models the original. Any suggestions?

The 1949 Plymouth Woodie project gave me lots of experience with this issue. I used POR-15 product. It is three stages, including the paint. I'm not sure how compatible the paint is the AH concourse standards, but that is a different world than mine. Anyway, I had very good results. The car is usually outside in an ocean climate. POR-15 is amazing! The cleaning is powerful and oderless. The "converter" stage is different than any other of the rust converters I have used and actually stays permenant, unlike some others. It also serves and an incredible pre-primer/etcher. Just follow all instructions.

There is a distributor in Sacramento. Or find them at some professional auto parts stores. Their ads are in most car resto mags.
