I am working on my 1960 BT7. Will be putting in a new head but came across what looks to be a rust hole in my engine block. I would appreciate any info and wisdom regarding this and any advice on how to repair it. I've attached a picture of the culprit. Thank you!!!!

I believe that those are plugs, and (once again) believe that I've seen discussion on replacing them, but this might be just another senior moment at my end. Give them a quick wire brush, and hope someone with more hands-on knowledge than mine replies. Try doing some searches, but I'm not quite sure what you'd use for search entries here. Doug

Have a look at the first photo in the opening of this thread - the author is concerned about different plugs than what you're highlighting, but it looks like his first photo shows what the top of your block would be without the corrosion. And now to let better minds speak up! Doug

Is the rust hole the one with the yellow arrow ? If it is it is it corresponds to the hole between cylinders 4 and 5 in the image attached

Hi Rich,
Don't panic, that is not a "rust hole", it's a water passage that is supposed to be there.
I took a picture of a spare block I have and used your color coding for the arrows I pointed at the various holes.
Yellow for the hole in the block you are concerned about between cylinders 4 & 5
Green for the areas with large holes in the gasket but no hole in the block
Red for the oil supply hole for the rocker shaft between cylinders 4 & 5
