Spitfire Rust free 80 Spitfire, free to good home

I bought this 80 Spitfire last year to use the OD and differential. I had planned to junk the car after I used the parts that I wanted but the car is to good to just throw away. It only has 41000 miles on it and is 100% origional, down to the ZS carb and emissions stuff. The body and frame are better than my restored Spits. There is one dent in the passanger rear quarter panel shown in the pictures, and some surface rust in the drivers side floor board but no holes. The doors, bonnet and trunk lid are in very good condition.

I have removed the tranny and differential so the car must be taken away on a 4 wheel trailer as the rear wheels are canted out without a rear end. My old 4.11 diffy was making some serious noise so I did not reinstall it in this car, but it is in the trunk and my old 4 speed is in the passangers side floor board.

This car would make an excellant project for someone with a rusted out or damaged Late model Spitfire to restore without having to redo a bunch of rust. For someone up north this would be a easy restoration and could make a very nice car, and would be well worth driving down South to pick up.

I have a clear title and it will go to the first person that has a need for it. I would like it picked up within a couple of weeks after it is claimed. I live right outside of Columbia SC, which is in the middle of the state.

It will go to the first person who wants it and can come and get it within a reasonable timeframe.

I will be glad to answer any questions or take some more pictures.

Paul

Paul-

I can hear the cars starting up even around here as everyone tries to get to your place first. Incredibly generous offer - I hope it finds a deserving spitfire fan. It may not matter to you, but that car broken up into parts is worth a lot of money - it would be a shame to see your generosity wind up on ebay a part at a time.

Regards,
Randy

[sigh]If only I lived closer[/sigh] - one of my son's have said they wanted a spitfire, and this would be a perfect way to introduce him to Triumphs! As others have said, a very generous offer! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

*starts running to door, car keys in hand*.............ah, it's too far away...but extremely generous of you

Guys,

Bill Kea is the first to claim it. I have left him a e-mail and if he is going to restore it and not strip it then it is his.
I cannot think of a better use for it than for someone from this forum to have and restore it.

thanks for the kind words,

Paul

Just to update everyone, I went and collected the car this past Saturday. As Paul said the car is in remarkable condition. It's in much better condition than my Mk I was when I purchased it. I need a differential, so if anybody has an unused spare 3.89 or 363 diff sitting around, let me know. My hat is off to Paul for donating a car to the cause.

BTW, y'all should see the TR6 Paul just got off eBay. I absolutely could not believe the condition of the car and what he paid. SO, there are good deals out there is you persist.

AHHHHHH !

And I was just about to ask my wife if we could get a forth. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Paul,
I would have gladly given it to you, seeing as you have your poor Triumph outnumbered now. Must have been the pressure from the MG board that made you turn /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bill,
keep us updated with pictures as you progress, it was good to meet you.

here is a shot of Bills Spitfire heading to its new home. we both agreed to leave ourselves out of the picture for the good of the internet.
