my car seems to run well....
pressure at 72...45+ on idle,
waters good and when i hit the clutch
the idle doesnt change (1200)...sound good?
well , my problem is, it doesnt
seem to have the zippyness i seem to remember
it having at one time...
it revs well and all, but just not getting
the power....
im thinking carb settings or timing...
any ideas before i mess with it?

I would tinker with the timing before messing with the carb. It might need to be advanced a degree or two.

I concur.

Depending upon how long your MG has "sat" w/o driving, it could be:

1: that your fuel has gone bad & lost some of its PUNCH!
If so, new fuel, a filter change, & a carb clean would help.
(IF it sat REALLY long, you might need to drain the tank, replace some fuel lines, and rebuild the carbs to get all the gelled fuel out.... But I doubt this is the issue in your case.... Usually it won't run if the fuel is this bad.)

2: that your parking brake could be dragging.
Jack up the rear, put in neutral, and see if the wheels turn freely.

3: that you have simply been driving "modern" cars too much!!
Park the Hyundai, drive the Midget! :driving:

4: that one of the hamsters escaped!!
Open the hood, count the hamsters still there (should be 4), feed them, fill the water bottle, and double check that the cage door is closed tight!

That said, I agree w the above posts that a little Timing advance should restore your PEP!!

"Cheers!"

hhaha, ive been driving my car so the gas is fine!
i HAVE just had the new muffler welded on and a few
other small changes which may affect running conditions..
that said, i advanced the timing a bit and got a little
more spunk....ill keep playing with that and the
carbs till i get it right.....zimmmy
