Running wires to the door ...

I want to try out some new mirrors in place of my now somewhat cracked bullet mirrors (which are a misnomer since I can see little out of the driver's mirror and sod all out of the passenger one!). The new Amazon mirrors have built in turn lights so need feeding from the loom.

I have done a number of Google searches, and haven't come up with anything for a "virgin" door, where no previous wiring existed! Lots of info on modifying elephant trunking for existing doors though!

Any suggestions on getting wires from the A-pillar to the door jamb in a tidy and safe manner?

Thanks, Tony

Usually, there is a fairly large pocket to clear said loom on cars designed to have such.
If it was my car, and that is all I was going to do, I think I would use a set of isolated contacts that only "made" when the door was firmy closed.
Otherwise, mark and drill, then secure your loom (and fule line works) to either the door or the post, allowing the other end to slide, preferrably in a grommet. This keeps the excess from "pinching" in the hinge area.

Thanks ... I should have said that this on a TR6. I have looked at using coiled cord flex as an answer Amazon coiled cord example and it will work unless someone has a better answer! Pity I have to buy so much when I only need a foot on each side!

The contacts are popular with the resto-mod crowd, as they are always adding power door locks and such to cars that didn't have them from new.

Here's some on flea-bay for cheap:

or if you Google for "door jamb contact" you'll get lots of hits from web sites offering them for sale.

The coiled wire doesn't seem like the best idea to me; as I don't believe there is much room in the jamb with the door closed. If the door crushes the coil as it closes, the wire won't last long.
