Running too cold...

I was having a problem as of late with my TR6 running too hot in traffic. On the highway, no problem, but in bumper-to-bumper, she was pegging past the 3/4 mark with a new thermostat. Not good. Tried another thermostat, same problem. Went to a gutted thermostat, just a restricter plate and she ran too cold. wouldn't get up to operating temperature at speed. Tried a third thermostat, name brand, and finally got it to operate in a normal range. Just a point to show that all parts are not made the same. Exasperating to say the least.

You are too right on this Bill, new stuff is often made in mud huts!! Before you risk a heat problem, drop that sucker into a pan of water. Heat it up and check the temp it opens at(if at all!!). This is cheap insurance and will make you sleep ez.
