Wonder how hard it would be to outfit the boot with a rumble seat?Fabricate a plexiglass windscreen & pitch the boot lid......I love to imagineer potiential ideas for Spitfires.(probably need air-shocks tho)The petrol tank may be a problem.WhiteLightning may NOT approve of my thoughts.
Maybe your feedback could cause some potiential relief from cabin(cockpit)fever.AND some new threads.

The question would be who will you put back there?

Surely not the kids...

Too low and not enough cushion in a rear end collision.

Even the rumble seat in the Triumph Roadster makes me nervous.

Ditto and I own one. The only time someone will be in the back will be at a show at ten miles an hour with no one following. But it's Sooooo......... Cool......

Well of course it would need to be modified somewhat. The need would be to vacate whatevers in their & find a suitable seat with a backrest, reposition the gas tank maybe behind the driver....& I agree that it would be only useful in parades but how much attention would it bring, maybe alot of DOUBLETAKES.Their wasn't much room in those Model A's either i'm told...I've seen ALOT of crazy modified Spitfires this can't be any different.Put a mother-in-law back their.;-)

The gas tank would present a big challenge. You could use it as the passenger's seat rest, essentially converting the car into a Pinto or you could be like a Jeep and put under your own seat.
Either way could be a blast.

We used to go for family rides of four in our Spitfire years ago.

I'd be lowered into the rear space behind the seats, my feet sticking over to the other side. My sister would be lowered down on the other side. After we settled the squabbling of who was sitting on whos foot, we'd settle down. Mom and dad would get in and off we'd go.
