MGB Rubber bumper hides ills

Had to remove my rubber bumper to remove the engine. Wow there was a lot of damage under there from a previous wreck. No wonder they put the rubber bumper on later cars, I cannot imagine how much body work would be required on a chrome bumper car to get it looking good!

I have long been of the opinion that all the chrome bumper does is allow you just enough time to soil yourself before you die.

Back in 2003 a deer jumped over a guardrail and landed on the right front fender of my '78 MGB. It crunched the fender and much of the right front of the car. Although I was doing about 50 mph at the time there was no passenger compartment intrusion and, belted in, I was unhurt. The car was declared a total by my insurance company and it was purchased by an area body shop. I remain a believer in the integrity of the rubber bumper MGB.

...and they make a good spot to hold your beer when you're working on the car.:friendly_wink:
