Royal Enfield Rally-India

That took some guts, to attempt that ride on an old Royal Enfield.

Cool story.

They are still in production in India, with some updates and modern options like electric start and 5 speed boxes, so most of the bikes were likely fairly new.

The fact they are still produced is a great boon for owners of the Redditch-built bikes, as new parts are available and they can make changes for safety, like disc brakes or 12v electrics with real headlights, if they wish.

Sounds like quite a trip, though.
Simon.

Not British bikes, but some friends are bringing in half a dozen "brand new" bmw r69's from the far east, and they are hitting probs with the original brakes/clutches being asbestos on import, mind you a bmw r69 with sidecar and all the bling in "as new" for est 6k is a steal, minor hiccups or not!

This isnt english, but is a 750 recon out of china!, antique to say the least!
