Out for a nice drive on Sunday in my 48 Rover 75 and after stopping at a friends, i came out to go and the gearbox was locked in 3rd gear...........i managed to get it out of 3rd and of course it went into 2nd in the gearbox but the shifter was seized solid at at peculiar angle.......i drove it home (approx 20 mile) in 2nd....................As i suspected the selector dog had jumped out of the selector slots and wedged between the frame and the 1st 2nd selector rod...........i remedied this but in the ensuing fiddling around to get the proper shift position found that the 2 passenger side bolts were stripped..........no couldn't get that lucky.......the holes themselves were stripped and since i have no whitworth taps will have to retap standard holes as soon as i find a tap that long ..........But i guess thats half the fun of owning a Rover............Meanwhile i'm still struggling to put the engine back together and back in my 69 2000TC........I've lost a lot of blood with skinned knuckles etc lately.........LOL..........Girlfriend says that helps keep my blood pressure down............RLOL /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
