Rover P6 musing

I'm thinking about the P6 here. v8 of course.

Assuming I had one and wanted to liven it up, what are my options?

I know where I can go to make the engine stupid fast, and I can fit an LM77 box to get a 5 speed.

What about the diff?
Suspension upgrades?
Brakes?

What else?

Has anyone ever done this to Auntie R?

Well you can't really term the P6 V8 as an "Auntie Rover" now can you?

Suspension is pretty good in stock form, unless you want to fit stiffer springs. Diff? I would think that one from a late-model SD1 Vitesse would work. Likewise the brakes.

The brakes (from what I remember) are decent.
I'm worried that if I go crazy on the engine the drivetrain will die.
Wondered what my options were...

I had suggested the Vitesse bits because that car put out some serious numbers, and the driveline was built to take it. You should be able to source the parts fairly easily still. The brakes were good I agree, but mine was stock.

Well, the SD1 had a cart axle at the back, the P6 was de Dion. Are the diffs interchangeable?

After cruising through some P6 Owners club sites (mainly https://www.p6roc.co.uk/ ) I couldn't find any issues with the diff. There is a lot of chatter on rear suspension issues/upgrades. Not much on the inboard brakes though.

Oh those things are a pain to change. Worse job on the car imo...

There's a P6 for sale in British Columbia,Canada.
I think that they're asking $1000 for it.
PM me if you want info on it.
