Round 2, with one minor issue

well, this weekend I went in with wrenches blazing. and lo and behold I got some major progress. I was able to get the fenders off, along with the nose and the radiator and drain the oil on saturday. Sunday however saw the most "progress" with the removal of the windshield wiper motor, and blades, airpump, carbs, intake/exhaust manifolds, waterpump, generator, and the cylinder head. and just cause they were in the way I took the mirrors off.

now my issue is the the copper tubing that screws into the side of the head in 4 places and then curls up toward the check valve has broken upon removal. I found the section in the VB catalog, and they don't have a P/N Listed. am I doomed that this is now broken? Where could I possibly get another? are there suitable replacements? the only reason I ask, is because up until now I had a complete engine, and now it is missing a major component, and one that for the moment seems to be irreplaceable. please any help will be greatly appreciated.

and on a side note. everything seemed to be typical about the motor, little dirty on the outside, some signs of slight oil leaks, the usual. once I started removing sparkplugs, the true character came out. the first plug was a little blackend, and the second was a bit more dark. 3 and 4 however, were just nasty, and when I got the head off I'm amazed I put the 1000 miles on it when I did. it was just completly caked in on the valves, all over the pistons. oh she is gonna need a good "colonoscopy" before she ever turns wheels again. if there is enough daylight when I get home tonight, I will take some pics just to show everyone how disgusting it is. needless to say I think she was running a little rich. other than that the internals seem to be pretty tip top. the rockers were clean. the coolant passages, while a little on the orangy/ scaley side the coolant was still a nice green, and flushed out in seconds to clear. a good steam cleaning will help that area out immensly.

well, I hope to get that tube issue figured out soon heck, I might get one made by a hook up at the hydralics work center here on base, but well see how it goes.

Adam, that's the AIR rail for the emissions system. You don't need to have a '70 smogged, so do as GB suggests, and remove the air pump and plug the holes.
If you have a connection at the hydraulic shop, #3 AN steel plugs are perfect for the job. Or, a 3/8" X 24, X 3/4" long pointed set screw will work.

I have an air rail that you can have if you want it to stay original, but I agree with others that you can just simply remove all the smpg equipment.

what is your price. I don't need it for me, but I want to sell the engine with everything, and now I'm one part short.

No charge; just send me a PM with your shipping address and I'll get it out to you this week.
