Where in Texas did they claim to be (or did they even tell you)? Its a big place but I'm in one spot of it - at very least might be able to make a couple phone calls or something...
 
There should be a member that is near and can make contact?
Sorry you have had a bad experience. I find that most on this forum are very trustworthy.
 
If I could find his emails, I may be able to tell you, but they are all gone. I have a dispute in with PayPal at the moment, but have heard nothing.
I'm pretty disappointed in this right now.

I can't blame you - I'd be quite livid about it myself. Hopefully PayPal can come thru for you on the recompense if nothing else.
 
He's probably "sold' this "rollbar" a number of times. Each with the same result.
Guess that's what I get for being a nice guy.

At the risk of asking a foolish question - where (rough answer if fine) are you? Seems like mailing a roll bar would be logistically challenging under any circumstances even if the seller could be persuaded to turn it loose.

And we went though all the steps about shipping cost and everything before I sent the money.

I'm very sorry to read this. I don't know if this was the case, but if you ever get a PM from some member (especially a member who hasn't been a member for long) and they tell you "hey, I know someone who have the part you need" and then they provide that persons email (usually a gmail). Be VERY cautious about any transactions. This is a well known scam, not just here but on other forums as well. In fact I have written about this scam in our Forum Happenings forum:

Just thinking out loud here, but why did you delete the emails before you received the rollbar?

Unless there's some exception, if you paid using PayPal, seems you're covered for loss.

PayPal’s Purchase Protection program may apply when you encounter these specific problems with a transaction:

  • You didn’t receive your item from a seller (referred to as an “Item Not Received” claim), or

PayPal isn't covering the loss.
The emails disappeared on their own.
I went back to get them and they were just gone.
 
I am sorry for you finding yourself in this situation.
Maybe ring Autopower directly and get a quote.
