Rolex Vintage Festival at Lime Rock

After several months of waiting impatiently for the new engine to be finished I got the car back last week and broke it in at Lime Rock last Tuesday.

Then over this past weekend I drove the Courier at the Lime Rock Vintage Festival put on by General Racing--a first-class event attended by many VSCCA folks. Despite dire predictions for things being seriously drenched by Ernesto there was no rain whatsoever and we had great racing on Saturday and Monday with a top-notch show on Sunday. Go to:

to view numerous photos, including one shot of me (white Courier w/red stripe) at Big Bend. I didn't set the track afire but finished respectfully and got my laps down to 1:16 by Monday. Car ran wonderfully and both it and driver had a ball.

Best--Michael Oritt, 1958 Elva Courier

That would be me. BTW a fellow in a 356 ran into me from behind during Saturday's race and cracked my left rear bumperette, so I spent today taking front and rear bumpers off. That's five more pounds I won't have to push around the track!

Attached is a shot on the back straight with me passing some of the slower guys.

I'll be at the VRG event in Shenandoah (Summit Point) at the end of September. You coming?

I'm signed up for the SVRA event down at VIR that same weekend. There is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Austin-Healey 100-6 that is taking place at the Healey museum which is located at the track and I want to attend that as well. However I am planning on being at Summit Point both for the VSCCA event Nov 4-5 (Shenandoah Circuit) and the VRG Turkey Bowl event after Thanksgiving. Hope I'll get to meet you in person at one of them.

How did the "new" engine do??

[/ QUOTE ]

It ran strong--and I have a newfound ($$) respect for 6200 rev redline

6200???

That's just when things START to get interesting..

What cam are you running?

Hey ! I took that picture!....It is actually you passing the slower guys near the apex of the downhill, just going on to the front straight!
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif nice!...........I like this one attached - coming down the downhill, setting up for a good lap! Oops - I guess the pic is too big - sorry.
