Rod bolts for 1500

I'm putting ARP rod bolts in my 79, 1500 midget. Searching for better prices than $100, for 8 bolts, I found that Summit sells them 1.5" or 1.75" long. I think Reading somewhere that it was suggested that one removes 3 threads off the end of the bolt. Not able to find that suggestion again, I am in hopes that someone here knows what to do. Also, these being hardended bolts, is there a best way to remove the threads?
Thanks

I've read nothing about removing threads on the rod bolts. It's the main bolts that you remove the threads from and you remove the threads from the block not the bolt.

I bought some rod bolts from an online dealer for around $50-60. If you have the bolt number, do a Google search and it should come up. Seems like nolimitmotorpsorts or something like that was the name. They did have to backorder them and it took a couple of weeks. Later I tried to order either the head studs or main bolts and the wanted to backorder me for 6 weeks!

Different application altogether, but maybe it will help. I used the ARP universal rod bolt 1.5" in 948/1098 applications, all I did was enlarge the chamfer on the rod caps. These are the same rod bolts used in may anftermarket connecting rods commonly used in racing.
