Rocker Shaft assembly

Hello there,

a rattling noise has developed in the region of the rocker shaft. All valves have been adjusted.

I've noticed that one of the "double coil washers" or Springwashers (part 86 in the Moss catalog) on the rocker shaft no longer has any tension.

2 questions:
- Could this be causing the rattling noise as the rocker arm
moves back and forth?
- Where can I get a replacement washer as no one seems to have these anymore or should something different be used?

regards from Luxembourg

Yes, it might cause a noise. There should be a repair shop somewhere in your vicinity that can provide a used but serviceable spring washer.

Folks who are serious about these engines usually replace the spring washers with solid bronze bushings. This requires a great deal of precision fitting & extra work. Probably more work than you wish to get involved with.
