I have the rebuilt engine installed in the BJ7 ready to fire-up, when I discover that the threads that hold the banjo bolt in the center rocker pedestal are stripped. Can a heli coil be used to cure this problem, or must I purchase a new pedestal? Anyone out there have a good serviceable pedestal that has good banjo bolt threads?

Next question: There seens to be very little clearance between the crankshaft pully and the frame crossmember, perhaps .25-.35 inches. Is this normal? Do I need to place shims under the motor mounts?

HI Ray, get a used pedestal from some of the usual east coast suppliers. Something is wrong with the engine location in the bay.Have you made certain that the Vibration Damper is properly seated on the crankshaft??-FWIW---Keoke

Ray,

You may know this but it's worth repeating:

This happens if you try to put the banjo bolt in after the rocker assembly is installed. The right procedure is to install the banjo (loose is fine) when the rocker assembly is out of the motor and you can rotate the shaft to align everything.

You might want to check with Rocker Arm specialist to see if they have a fix or extra pedestals.
