Janet and I returned from a trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway, and then on to the British V8/V6 meet in Lewisburg WV. Had a great time - the Parkway is a very nice drive, and the meet was first rate. Took a few pictures, but haven't downloaded them from the camera. Below is one picture I took with the cell phone while at the Cass Scenic Railway. Nice train ride pulled by a Shay engine, gear-driven on all wheels.

But the big news for me was how well the GT performed. The Parkway was sedate - 45 mph speed limit - but we did several ~spirited~ drives through the twisties in WV. I was a bit disappointed with the gas mileage through those, but coming home we took interstate all the way. Driving between 60 and 70 mph, partly with the A/C on and partly off, we got 29 mpg! Gonna recheck that, but I'm quite pleased!

Anyway, here's the train picture, and if the ones on the camera are of any quality/interest, I'll post a couple.

Oh, and the GT garnered many comments and looks along the way. Several who passed us on the road had their cell phone cameras aimed our way (passengers, not drivers!), and it seemed like everywhere we stopped someone commented or asked about it. This happens much more with the GT than it does with the Tourer.

Hey - congrats on the successful trip! I enjoyed the Parkway on my 2013 cross country trip.

I'm impressed by your mpg, especially if you were using a/c. Probably a great feeling to floor the gas pedal and be pushed back into the seats.

(Did you tell the engineer that the locomotive is hooked up backwards ...?)

That is my neck of the woods...I have a house about 30 minutes from Cass.
beautiful ride up the hill! They build all parts and maintain the engines on site.

Where's the pictures of the GT ......& Janet?
I'm still not sure she exists,as every time we meet, you're alone.

Sorry, Doug. Didn't take any with the GT. Or Janet.

More pix, please!
