These darn rivet places want to sell rivets by the thousand. gesh.

What is used on a 1/4 elipic rear Bugeye spring is a 5/16 D x3/8 long round head steel rivet.

Now why can I not use a steel long shank bolt so I only get the unthreaded part and use that. This rivit is only to keep the U shaped spring assembly in place ie stacked. Does not seem to be any real stress on it up and down, it is only some to the rear I would expect.

Try Grainger https://www.grainger.com and search for part # 6KU22. Round head, mild steel, 3/8" dia, 1" long. They are 20 packs, but only $3.00. McMAster also has them, item # 97300A727, but looks more expensive ($6.21).

Ha, thanks, will be my first thing to do Monday morning. Durn if I could find them other than very large quanties.

Again appreciate.

McMaster is my favorite industrial supplier... kind of a 7/11 for industry. They don't typically have the best price but they are bound to have what you are looking for (whatever it is) in stock. Grainger is good also, but their web site is harder and slower to navigate.
