Pink Floyd member Richard Wright dies at age 65
6 hours ago

LONDON (AP) — A Pink Floyd spokesman says founding member Richard Wright has died. He was 65.

Wright died Monday after a battle with cancer at his home in Britain. His family did not want to give more details about his death. The spokesman is Doug Wright, who is not related to the artist.

Richard Wright met Pink Floyd members Roger Waters and Nick Mason at college and joined their early band Sigma 6.

Sigma 6 eventually became Pink Floyd and Wright wrote and sang some of the band's key songs. He wrote "The Great Gig In The Sky" and "Us And Them" from Pink Floyd's 1973 "The Dark Side Of The Moon."

He left the group in the early 1980s to form his own band but rejoined Pink Floyd for their 1987 album "A Momentary Lapse of Reason."

This has had me really bummed out today.

I agree. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is Wright.

RIP Rick.

Oh and thanks for the Video. I really needed that. It's hard to beleve I saw them 20 years ago.

That caught me by surprise as well. I have been a fan since I first saw them in 1973 and a number of times since. Hard to believe that their last tour was 14 years ago.

wow. :frown:

Sad to lose another rock legend. That video is awesome. I saw a lot of great bands in the 70's and 80's but missed Pink Floyd.

Is that available in 1080p and 7.1?

Yes https://www.amazon.com/David-Gilmour-Remember-Albert-Blu-ray/dp/B000UD08HW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1221591854&sr=8-1
Great, now I gotta buy a Blu ray

He will be missed!! Truly one of the all-time great bands!! The odd part was, last night on the local news when they announced his passing, the film clips they showed included all other three members of the band and never showed him!!!

Sad.
Remember when I 'discovered' Pink Floyd as a young teenager in the early 80:s,
have been an ardent fan ever since.
Pink Floyd seems to be playing most often in my Midget ( with Lynyrd Skynyrd a close second... )
RIP Mr. Wright

RIP Mr. Wright

When I was in High School I went around a turn really fast in my Midget (who did'nt). There was a cassette of Pink Floyd on the dash up against the window. It slid right across and right out the other side. I turned around, picked it up and picked the broken bits out. Still worked fine.

He will be sadly missed. Odd, I hadn't listened to Floyd in a long while, and had them in the CD player during the weekend at Watkins Glen. Truly enjoyed it.

From a Three Dog Night song,

"If you believe in Heaven, you know they have a heck of a Band!"
