RIDGID Compressor won't stop runing

I have a small - 2 tank RIDGID compressor. tonight I started it and it would not shut off. Instead, the pressure built until the blowoff valve blew off - any thoughts why?

is that something I can check? - if so, where?

The pressure cut off switch should be located inline with the power cord and have a connection to the air tanks. On this Ridgid model it's shown at the side of the unit and circled in red. The actual switch is under the cover and may be adjustable, you'll have to remove the cover to find out. If not, replacements are available.

My CH compressor did that a few weeks ago. Had to unplug it from the wall to get it to stop. I removed the cover on the switch but didn't see anything obviously wrong. I tightened a couple of screws and covered it back up. Intended to start searching online for a new switch but it has worked perfectly ever since. Might be worth a try.

sometimes the contacts inside there get stuck, try cleaning them with a little bit of fine sand paper.
