There are kits available that include everything you need to carry out this job. I believe that you have to put different springs in front and rear, and adapters for the spring mounts in back, plus one or two other odds and ends. The whole kit should set you back about $200 to $250 I should think.

Apparently the "ride and handling" kits that are readily available help the later, rubber bumpered Bs handle more like the earlier chrome bumpered jobs. Stiffer shock settings and, I think, very slightly upgraded springs. The original reason for the raised ride height was for Federally mandated bumper and headlight heights....make sure that your state doesn't check these sorts of things.

Please keep us posted. My 'B' is a '77 and I would love to know how well it does. Right now I am changing a spindle assembly and having a bit of trouble getting a spring compressor that works on the 'B'. The idea of making this handle like my '65 may hold me over from completing the spindle installation. Are the kits available from Moss or Bitish Victoria? Do you know or does anyone else? I will have to look. Good luck!

Jarhead mentions use of a spring compressor to dismantle the front suspension of an MGB. Please be very cautious with this approach. Both the Bentley and Autobooks manuals outline procedures for releasing coil spring tension on an MGB that does not include a spring compressor. My initial approach to lowering the ride height of our 77 MGB will start with an increment of one inch. Lowering blocks will be used on the rear axle. The front will be dropped by cutting a pair of coil springs from a salvaged rubber bumper MGB. A more radical modification of 2.5 inches by a local late model MGB owner required a number of unexpected and costly additional modifications. I hope to avoid such problems.

The catalog says; "This kit includes lowered and uprated front springs and rear spring spacers with U-bolts.".
