RHD obsession, do I give in?

Think of the fun in a RHD car at the drive up window!
It also freaks people out that are following you.

All the DQ's in Springfield were designed by a Brit architect, the drive thru windows are on the opposite side! Needless to say, they're all abandoned now.

Like Keoke, I would like to know more. I lust after a Salon with fluted grill, can't get excited about the Vanden Plas series and so a LHD MkII -V8 250- is about the only choice. Email me if you would, please.

For example, how do you see when it is safe to pass when you are stuck behind a big semi on a busy carriage way??. Traveling safely on the LH drive roads in a RH drive car requires a navigator.----Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

I driven a fair bit in a RHD car on the right on European roads and its not too bad. The strange thing is the first hour or so when I'm still getting used to having driven onto the Ferry on the left and off on the right.... Once past that I manage pretty well and a navigator isn't needed. While you might think you need a little more room to see, its not usually much of a problem- though the semi on a crowded road is a little problematical. My navigator hasn't much help in those situations, given her poor judgement of speed/distance/passing space etc.

My TC is RHD...I've never driven it though, but I will soon enough...I think it might be a little weird though, especially making left turns at busy intersections.

I believe all TCs were RHD, weren't they?

I have two...a 1963 pull handle MGB and a 1959 T.V.R. Grantura. They are both great fun to drive and not a bother on American roads as long as you stay away from fast food joints. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif

That's probably good advice anyways, lest one get too fat for their little car! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Warmed up today to 60 (it's been snowing here, and down in the 30s), so I took a little drive in the Tunebug. Definitely need more speed...

My buddies solution with his RHD Mini at the drive through was simply to go through backwards! Of course he was a bit crazy anyway... When we drove his car to lunch, we always went through the drive through. I loved seeing the expression on the servers face when I took the food and there was no steering wheel in front of me...
I also liked to wave at people with both hands while we were driving around

I always thought that they'ed make great "High School Cars",as you could getan extra steering wheel,& hand it over to the "passenger" while driving down the street in traffic!
We had a Student Teacher in High School, who had a Purple 240Z "Fairlady" - RHD.
I thought it was cool!

I find it really strange and a little disconcerting when I'm a passenger back in the US... I feel I should be doing the work, not just sitting there sight-seeing....

Yeah, I feel the same way when I visit the UK. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
