This past weekend we had over 700 costumed military re-enactors, encamped all over the village. Great to mingle with folks living the 18th century "outdoor" life, Continentals, British, French, Hessians, etc.

One British regiment raided my veg garden, altho' the Captain did say "By order of his Majesty, the potatoes are not to be molested."

Very thoughtful of him.

A few pictures for your enjoyment:

Neat.

we live a few minutes from ~Morristown National Historical Park~
which includes Washinton's Headquarters, Fort Nonsense, etc.

~Fosterfield's~ is close too.

One of my former students does Revolutionary War reenacting. One time he went to Canada to an event and was surprised to realize that they were cheering for the other guys!

I was present at the original at Brandywine, Pa
with Gen Washington! It was mighty cold and we wuz
sick and tired of eatin' tripe.

Looks like fun. Always wanted to try WWII reenacting. I do Civil War reenacting now. I'm the Chaplain with the 5th Ky CSA. 150 members strong.

Regards John

I'm involved with the Muzzleloaders. they are the only non-military reenactment group, portraying the pre-1840 fur trade era. AKA "Mountian men". Jim Bridger, Kit Carson and the like. We get reenactors everywhere from Southwest, to Colonial, to Indian, to Fur Trappers. Lots of fun, lots of music. The biggie every year for us is the NMLRA (National Muzzle Loading Rifle Assocation)Eastern Rondezvous. Several acres of white canvas tents and teepees, and thousands of people using candle lanterns instead of flashlights, and fires to cook on.
I always love a good military reenactment though. You guys are cool!
