Reverse Polarity?

Hi all,

It has been some time since I have posted on the forums here. Main point being that I gave my Sprite to my Dad when I learned I was going to deploy to Afghanistan. That was four years ago. He still has the Sprite and is loving it.

Which brings me to my question: how can he tell if the Sprite is reverse polarity or if it has been changed over to "regular" polarity? For the life of me, I can't remember if I ever changed it over. He would like to install a Flamethrower dizzy in it and needs to know if he has positive or negative grounding in the car.

Both of us are car nuts but kind of "electrical stupid" when it comes to circuitry and so forth.

Congratulations on helping us out in Afghanistan! Best of luck to you.
For the sprite, take a look at the battery.
One side of the battery will be connected to the body with a short cable and usually held with a bolt to the firewall. Trace this cable back to the battery and see which post it is connected to. If it is connected to the neg (-) post, then it is what is called a negative ground. If it is connected to the (+) post, then it is what is called a positive ground.
this is the information needed to determine what polarity for the dizzy.
