Resurfacing brake disks

In a previous thread resurfacing disks was mention. My disks were badly scored and rusted and I was condidering having them turned. However, after michrometering them I found that they were at the minimum thickness specified in the shop manual so I bought new ones from Moss. When I checked the thickness of the new ones, I found that they were about the same thickness as the old ones with 75k miles. Looking at that chunk of iron I wonder if there is not enough metal there anyway. It looks like a few thousands would not make much difference.

Hi Richard,

The manual lists .335 minimum thickness. Since they say to not remove more than .040" the original thickness should be .375" Exactly what is the measurement of the new Moss rotors? If thinner than spec, you may need to check with Moss and have them measure some others for you or find another source with the correct thickness. I wouldn't want to go below the recommended thickness (heat/warping/pistons extending too far, etc.)

Cheers,
John
