TR2/3/3A Restoring a tonneau cover?

You can use vinyl dye and bring it back to the original color. The stuff you buy in spray cans works very well. It won't fix a tear or blemish though.

I wonder if the dye would sort of seal the vinyl so that it would make it difficult to bring back the lustre with a product like Armoural?
 
I have used it on seats and a steering wheel and it looks exactly like the rest of the vinyl in the car. But I never use Armoural, I am not sure what is in that stuff but I have seen it discolor some vinyl.
