I picked up this '72 GT6 Last fall.

I had to make quite a few overlay patches for the frame.

Something of the sort will be necessary for the frame tubes as well.

I used a brush-on rust transformer over the entire frame prior to priming

and painting with epoxy paint.

I have the engine and gearbox out of the car. I decided on a T-9 conversion and have started to pick up the necessary parts and instructions from Canley's > A local transmission specialist is giving my diff and sierra gearbox a once over. Thanks to some of your own detailed rebuild images, it looks like he will shorten the input selector.

Hym, nice reso work on that GT6. You are a brave man, picking one that was basically kaput.

Thanks for posting the photos, and for saving another great Triumph car.

Keep us posted on the engine/drivetrain install. It would great if you could document the gearbox installation and diff.

I had already added 16 GA strips to lengthen the inner sill in preparation for the rocker panel. The rear sill had already been installed, serving as a guide for the length of the sill where it meets the lower rocker panel. I drilled holes on all of the contact surfaces, but the first had to be re-done, as I hadn't removed enough of the galvanized layer or zinc plating on the panel before welding. the corner was salvaged from the original panel. it was easier to patch it back in than to recreate the pieces needed to finish the reproduction.the last
photos is of the build up to a rear valence modification I've begun.

an update. I've attached all the replacement metal on the body tub, New lower sills, front and rear of the rear wheel well and new rocker panels.

I've have the car elevated about four feet off the ground so I can spray the under side with undercoating.

next I plan to finish some spot metal stripping and prep the tub for primer inside and out.
